MuseScore 4.2 "beta" release
Hello! After an enjoyable Thanksgiving break with my family, it's back to music as usual this week! In the Harmony and Chord Progressions course, we are in week 13, looking at common harmonic idioms - sequences of chords that can be used interchangeably as a way of getting from point "A" to point "B". Another highlight is the beta release of MuseScore 4.2, which you'll be hearing more about below. Keep in mind, as a beta, this is for testing purposes - the real release will happen next month. MuseScore CaféThis week in the MuseScore Café with Marc Sabatella, we take a look at the "beta" release of MuseScore 4.2 to see what's new. Among its features are more flexible linking between score and parts, a facility for defining custom bends and string tunings for guitar, playback support for pedal diagrams in harp glissandi, and a return of the long-missing ability to select sounds within SoundFonts (now also easier to use than ever before). There is also a very promising 6-key input system for braille music, engraving improvements, performance optimizations, and more!
Tip of the WeekMuseScore 4.2 is coming soon, and a "beta" version is available for testing. It can coexist with your existing installation, so if you'd like to try out the new features and help ensure the final release is problem-free, I encourage you to download the beta! In this video post, I show you how to find more information about what's new and where to get the beta release itself (for Windows, macOS, and Linux - now with support for ARM processors as well as Intel).
